Welcome to the wild world of domain names

If you’re reading this you likely clicked on an article about domain names.
You saw a headline about some random domain selling for 6 figures.
You tried to buy your perfect name only to realize all the good ones were taken.
OR
You’ve been sitting here thinking to yourself: “Is this actually a thing where you can make money… or is it just internet rumors?”

Yeah, I get it.
As an outsider, the domain space can seem straightforward.
Buy a domain name. Wait for someone to buy it. Profit.

That’s the story they want you to believe.
But that’s only half of the story at best.

The Part They Don’t Want You To Know (At Least Initially)

What really happens is:
You register your first domain. You think you’re so cool.
You check whois/profile/etc 10 times per day.
You fantasize about the startup founder who will stumble upon your domain name and send you thousands in the middle of the night.
Days turn into weeks. You start to lose hope.
Slowly becomes Months. Did you make a smart investment? Or just buy a digital trophy?
If you give up around this time… chances are you won’t hear too much about domain names again.

It’s not because domain investing doesn’t work. (it does… kind of.)
It’s because no one bothered to explain how it DOES work.

So let’s fix that, shall we?

What the heck is going on in the world of domain names?

Domain names have been glamorized as “digital real estate”.

And while that isn’t wrong. It isn’t the full story.
Think of it like this:

When you buy a domain name. You’re not just buying words.
You’re buying attention. Buying intent. Buying potential.

The best domains sit at the perfect cross section of :

• what people are searching for

• what companies aspire to be

• what brands are willing to pay for

That’ why a domain name. two small words linked together can be completely worthless… or sell for life-altering sums of money.

What makes the difference?

Luck? Sure. Some of it. Schmancy.

But more often? Knowledge.

The Reason We Exist

You see. far too much real estate (pun absolutely intended) about domain names is skewed.

• Either it’s overly simplified “What is a domain name?” kindergarten material.

• Or its clickbait BS “Here’s how I sold a domain for $50k!” podcasts/influencers tell you.

What you won’t find is anything in between. The good. The bad. The confusing. The exciting.

Welcome to that. 🙌

No fluff. No regurgitated points everyone else is repeating. No fooling you into thinking every domain you buy has the potential to be the next legit.io.

Just informed thought. Realistic expectations. And actionable knowledge you can use to make better decisions.

PS: Yes. a lot of domains will never sell. But that doesn’t mean YOU can’t be the person who consistently finds the ones that do.

For Newcomers

Starting doesn’t need to be expensive.
You don’t need “connections”. (you just need to know how to research.)
And you sure as heck don’t have to buy the perfect name right out of the gate.

What you need to do is: Pay attention. Learn from patterns. And listen/read/watch harder than everyone else trying to do this.

Domains, for the most part, can be forgotten about. parked. Sitting. Until suddenly one day… they don’t.

Until someone realizes your randomdomain.io just so happens to be the frontend for a www.google.com kind of opportunity.

And then you watch those spends turn into your average monthly salary. Or… If you play your cards right. MUCH MORE.

For Domain Veterans

You know there’s never been a clear-cut path.

You’ve made mistakes like :

• Dropping names you should’ve kept

• Dropping names that turned into nothing

• Buying into “markets” that made no sense

• And sleepless nights spent wondering why you didn’t snatch a name when you had the chance.

You know the domain game is no longer JUST about domains.

Its about:

• Predicting trends

• Knowing When to buy

• Psychology

• And everything in between

Grab a seat. We’re talking about all of this and more.
