Do You Know What Separates Those That Quit…From Those That Figure It Out?

It starts with a simple idea that most people don’t hear until WAY too late.

Buying a domain name is easy. Buying the right domain name is not.

And that one phrase is where most beginners will either quietly quit….or start figuring this thing out.

Let’s break it down.

The Moment You Discover Domain Investing

Sound familiar?

You hear about some random domain name selling for absurd amounts. ₹10 lakh. $50,000. Sometimes more.

It sounds crazy. Two words. Maybe one. No product. No website. No inventory. Just a domain.

And suddenly you’re thinking…

Inline Leaderboard ad space728 x 90

“Wait…people can actually do this?”……

You run to a registrar. Punch in a few keywords. Buy a couple domains that “sound cool.” And just like that…..

You’re officially “doing domain names.”

Except….absolutely NOTHING happens.

No inquiries. No offers. Nothing.

Suddenly you’re just staring at domain renewal notices trying to figure out where you went wrong.

Here’s the thing.

Up until this moment you were ‘PLAYING domains.’

You’re about to start ‘LEARNING domains.’

So what the actual *bleep* is Domain Investing?

Basically. You buy domains that someone else needs….and then you sell them for a profit.

Digging Deeper

Simple concept. Right?

Wrong.

Domain investing isn’t just randomly buying domains and hoping they sell.

You have to know WHY these domains will sell BEFORE someone else realizes it.

Picture this….

A beginner looks at a domain name and sees:

Words.

An investor looks at a domain name and sees:

THE POSSIBILITY of a future brand, business, or product.

Once you start thinking about domains this way… you’re starting to “get it.”

Domains Aren’t Just “Digital Real Estate.”

I hear this phrase all the time. Domains are digital real estate.

Don’t get me wrong. There is some truth to that….

Buuuut……

Real estate = “Location, Location, Location”

Domains = “Traffic, Traffic, Traffic”

(insert your own “(domain” here)

A domain name is just an “address” on the internet. Yes, it needs to be good in order to convert traffic. But before traffic even comes into play… businesses and founders have to find YOU.

How do they do that?

CHEAP.

Wait. Hear me out.

When it comes to sales, strong domains have 3 things going for them:

1. They’re simple — easy to remember, type, and share
2. They have a clear meaning — you instantly know what they represent
3. They imply comercial intent — businesses see an opportunity to make money

“But INC what about digital real estate?”

I’m getting to that. Bear with me.

Remember how I said that domains are online “addresses?”

Well think about it….

Every successful business on the internet needs…

A memorable NAME

An easy place to FIND you

AND brandability.

That my friends….is where domains come into play.

DriveSmart.com instantly tells me what your business is about.

URLs with 20 keywords stuffed in them? Not so much..

Why Do Most Domains NOT Sell?

Ok now for a hard truth:

You will buy domains that will NOT sell.

Hell. I own domains that will NEVER sell.

The Domain Market isn’t broken. Demand is SPECIFIC.

You buy a bunch of domains that sound cool to YOU….but actually SUCK for business owners.

You register LONG, complicated, what feels_like_you_re_typing_for-ever domains.

You THINK you’re being “clever.”

You follow trends too late.

You try to predict the future instead of investing in TODAY.

Domains. Don’t. Sell. Themselves.

Domains sell because someone, somewhere NEEDS that domain.

If you open up a store in the desert… and expect people to find you. You’re going to be *bleep*ing alone for a LONG time.

Let’s talk about domains that DO sell.

3 Things That Make Domains Worth Something

Like I said earlier. There’s no magic formula.

(Besides buying FROM me 😉)

But there are common traits that good domains tend to have.

1. They’re easy to remember
Buy “KeywordHell991.com.” No one is going to remember that trash.

“LoanStore.com” feels short, sweet, and to the point.
2. You instantly know what they represent
“FastCarLoanOnline.xyz”…What? ?

“CarLoansFast.com” IS a car loan company that’s FAST at giving you loans.
3. You can actually MAKE MONEY with them
“WhatDomainsSell.org” is full of SATURATED keywords.

“RocketDomains.com” somehow sounds broader (AND specific) enough that you can IMAGINE selling domains with confidence.
4. Brandable
You don’t need me to explain this….You know a brandable domain when you see one.
5. Don’t sleep on extensions. While .COM domains are far from “over” they’re starting to become crowded. That’s why newer extensions like .IO are becoming more popular with startups (especially tech.)

Quick Example:

Imagine you came across these two domains:

FastLoanSolutionsOnline.com

vs

QuickLoan.com

Which one would you rather own?

Both mean the exact same thing….

But one is…

A WORD

The other is….

A BRAND.

Notice a pattern?

Stay with me. We’re getting to the good stuff.

Article-38: Domain Investing 101: How To Start Buying & Selling Domain Names Profitably

Where Do You Buy Domains?

When it comes to buying domains there are 3 MAIN strategies:

1. Hand Registering Domains (NEW)

This is simply buying domains that are AVAILABLE to register.

Pros: Inexpensive. Great for beginners

Cons: Riskiest method because if it’s available….someone else probably didn’t want it either.

2. Buying Expired Domains (PRE-OWNED)

These are domains that were REGISTERED in the past but FAILED to get renewed.

Pros: Can have existing value

Cons: You’ll need to do some digging.

3. Buying Domains FROM Other Investors

(Domains that have changed hands at least once)

Pros: These are typically higher quality domains

Cons: You’re buying from someone who already “figured this stuff out.” Which means you’ll likely be paying more for these domains.
Surviving Your First Domain Sale

Ok so you bought a domain.

Now what?

This is where most beginners give up.

“Trying” to sell your first domain is where most people quit before they even START….

You see, domain investing isn’t brain surgery.

But selling a domain? THAT takes skill.

Selling domains can be broken down into two categories:

PASSIVE (aka INBOUND) Sales

• This is where you list your domain FOR sale and essentially “wait” for someone to discover it.

• For passive sales to be successful you NEED to have a legitimately good domain that has existing demand.

This is called “ fishing.”

ACTIVE (aka OUTBOUND) Sales

• This is where you reach OUT TO potential buyers and offer them your domain.

• You can do this by contacting: startups, businesses, founders, etc.

And this is where most beginners F*** up….

Instead of providing value. They immediately start “Pitching” their domains.

Hint: Businesses and startups can smell a crappy domain from a mile away….

(Trust me. I used to be one.)

Domain Pricing Is A Skill

(and most people ignore this…)

Truth is….

The successful investors know exactly when to sell.

You hold strong domains for too long…they could likely sell for more.

Try selling that exact same domain next year….and chances are…it probably won’t sell.

This isn’t easy. And like most things. Comes with practice.

How long should you hold a domain before selling?

As long as it takes to recognize its value.

Patience Will Be Your Best Teacher

If you’re thinking you’’ll buy a domain and immediately turn around and sell it for 10x….

You’re in the wrong place.

There are investors out there….who buy domains and keep THEM for years.

Who renew domain names so many times they CAN’ forget their renewal date.

All because they know its true value….

Don’t rush domains.

Think of each purchase as a long term asset….

Not get rich quick scheme.

Remember when I mentioned that domains are digital “REAL ESTATE?”

Here’s the real estate analogy….

If you buy a domain that “ MAY “ sell someday.

You’re the BANK buying property and waiting for someone to FLIP it.

If you buy domains that you KNOW will sell. You’re STOCKROWHouse investments. Waiting for a slow and steady increase in value.

Both will sell when the time is right….

When the buyer is ready.

Which investor makes more cash?

Quick Story :

This happens WAY more than you think.

Some guy buys a domain about some random topic he thought was “cool.”

Life happens. 8 months go by and absolutely nothing.

He wants to let it expire.

But then….on a whim. He renews the domain.

A few months later. An startup reaches out to him about buying it.

They toss around a few numbers.

End up selling for an amount that covers every domain name he ever bought.

Was he “LUCKY?”

Yeah. Partially.

He also bought a domain about something that was slowly picking up traction.

There’s your lesson for the day.

Luck + A little Foresight = 💰

Mistakes You DON’T Want To Make

You know what sucks?

Time.

Wasting time. Losing time.

Once you realize that. Your entire mindset around domain investing shifts.

Here are the biggest time-wasters.

Buy too many dang domains.

PLEASE. Just don’t do this.

Try to predict the future.

Observe it.

Fantasy $tickers.

Get emotional about your dumb ideas.

Thinking you’ll become an overnight success.

It takes time. But it’s possible.

You just need to know what you’re doing.

How to Spot Great Domain Names Before Everyone Else

Want to know the single best way to spot great domains?

Immerse yourself in startup culture.

Listen to what new companies are naming themselves.

What kind of businesses are popping up?

How are they branding themselves?

What words are popular? What sounds forced?

It’s like learning a new sense.

At first you’ll feel overwhelmed..

But the more you tune into your target buyer. The more your “domain sense” will sharpen.

Is Domain Investing Still “Legit?”. Will It MAKE Me Rich?

Should you still be buying domains?

Hell Yeah.

(Seriously. Do yourself a favor and buy INC ownership here.)

Will domain names make you rich overnight?

No.

But …. with the right mindset and strategy. It can certainly CHANGE your life.

(ok now buy INC)

Getting Started… Finally!

Congrats. You made it to the end.

I know this was a lot to take in. But trust me. If you applied even HALF of these principles. You’ll be light years ahead of most investors.

Here’s what you SHOULD do to get started.

Buy 2–5 domains.

Look at each name as if YOU were a startup founder.

“Would YOU buy THIS domain?”

Anything else you connect with? Buy it.

If not….let it go.

Simple.

Learn how to love being wrong.

Buy that domain you really wanted but was worried was “too much?”

Buy it.

Let it sit.

WATCH THEM APPRECIATE OVER TIME.

Buy 10 more.

You get the idea.

Become a domain investing KNOW IT ALL…

THEN prove me wrong.

Enjoy the guide! Let me know if you have any questions.
